Wishing everyone a Happy New Year as we move into 2017.

We didn't publish a December Newsletter but have written one for January that covers December too. (click here for the Jan 2017 newsletter)

Don't forget to check the central heating in loved ones houses, it should be 21c at least during these cold snaps.

This month's newsletter covers how the scheme has now expanded into Shepreth, this is wonderful news.

The Royal British Legion

Picture
This month’s newsletter features an article on the Royal British Legion as several of our scheme members
belong to the local women’s branch and November is of course a very significant time for the Legion.

Two scheme members Shirley and Betty have kindly
provided us with some information about their work.

On 14th of this month we had an outing to Coton Garden Centre.

Forty two people came along and we enjoyed a scenic trip through Grantchester, a village very popular at the moment because of the TV show of that name set in the area!

We travelled in a combination of community transport buses provided by Royston & District Community Transport Scheme and cars to Coton village.

We enjoyed a hot lunch and a dessert and some of the party participated in a little ‘retail therapy’ as there were shops just by the restaurant  that sold gifts, clothes and books etc.

Unfortunately we were all too busy enjoying ourselves and realised after, that no photographs were taken of the day, so some images of the front of the garden centre and the village church and sign have been included instead!

We hope to organise another trip in June and the wardens would be very pleased to hear any suggestions from you to explore as possibilities.

Sue Crowley joins us as our latest mobile warden and starts with us in April.

Sue will have a full round which includes some existing clients of the scheme and  several new ones who have been waiting to join us when we were able to recruit new wardens.

Sue is  very experienced in the care profession.  She lives
outside of the village, but has worked in Melbourn and the surrounding villages for many years and is familiar with the area and many of the residents.

Sue has been introduced to several clients already and over the coming weeks you will all hopefully have a chance to meet her.

The scheme is delighted to welcome Sue on board to help us
continue expanding our growing team of wardens and to meet the increasing demand for our services.

We hope you will join us in welcoming her.
